70th Day on Wii Fit

This was my 70th day on Wii Fit... last two weeks have been 30 or more actually exercise minutes every day. From the first day, I have lost 5 pounds. Been working on diet and regular walking, plus moving activities, of course.

Helps get good rest at night as well, I think. I'll believe it, anyway. Fun as well as healthful. Does take time, though. Takes about 45-50 minutes to get in the full 30 minutes of recorded time.

It was a very good day! ;-)

Happy Father's Day!

Congratulations and best wishes to all Fathers out there!

Allison and Nancy took me to the Grand Country Buffet for brunch today. Very nice!

Got back just as the U. S. Open third round was getting under way - more rain overnight, but nicely playable. Final round started late in the afternoon - will finish on Monday, hopefully!

Nice electronic cards and notes, etc., from Arrion and Annette, of course. Nancy went and got a cake, mid-afternoon, so the celebration will continue...

It is a very good day! ;-)

First Friday

Finished major trash runs - haulers on Tues and Friday, here - worked out well!

Still very hot! Watched extended U. S. Open all day - 13+ hours of coverage, rain yesterday.

Tiger had bad first round. Phil M. hanging in pretty well.

Grilled on back deck for supper - Allison came over and joined us.

It was a very good day, except for Tiger! ;-)

First Thursday

Went for a walk, and then started doing 30+ minutes of Wii Fit in the morning - rather than evening like the first 58 days.

Helped Nancy finish sorting and replacing items in the kitchen, pans, etc. Worked on the hall closet, so can access cable on Monday when service person comes to upgrade our service.

To grocery store in late afternoon. First of many, I assume. Seems to be a regular part of my new duties, in recent times, and looking forward. I still enjoy it, so good deal all around.

Enjoyed cherry pie and ice cream to top off the day.

It was a very good day! ;-)

First Wednesday

Up for a few minutes at 6 am to see Larry and Annette off to the KC airport - back to bed...

Went for a walk. Got my new larger computer monitor from Staples... lamp for Nancy.

Helped Nancy unpack kitchen boxes and make decisions on what to rid ourselves of.... so little space.

Supper with Allison, office TV hooked to cable, approaching more normal times.

It was a very good day! ;-)

First Tuesday

Still retired. Like it.

Sorted some boxes... couple back to storage, one back to the office to sort.

Larry and I both made trash runs. Larry helping fix things around the house.

Annette grading and getting ready for conference.

Nancy emptying boxes and arranging much stuff in her small office space.

Plan to barbeque chicken on the grill for supper.

It was a very good day! ;-)

First Monday

The first Monday has now come and is underway. Don't need to think about going to work. Went for a short walk, to get the day started right. Had breakfast with Nancy and Annette and Larry. Nice.

Top priority is opening and sorting boxes and setting new levels of priority for what can be kept and what must be discarded. Trash containers already full, but will get fuller. Reboxing items for storage... repeat... repeat... repeat. Tagging a few items for Fall "garage sale" in the complex.

It is a very good day! ;-)

I am retired

No more days to count down. I am officially retired, as of this afternoon. And, the truck is loaded, thanks to Larry, and Annette, and Nancy and others too numerous to mention! In the morning, we caravan to Hollister to start our new retired lives. Starting with unloading a "chuck full" 16' Penske and three cars packed to the gills... Storage stuff first, cabin later on.

Had my last official meeting, today, with the gentleman taking over as Department Chair on Monday. Jacqui had tears in her eyes, as she gave me a big hug, for goodbye. It is a time of transition for her, not just with me leaving at work, but she is getting married in August to a professor, with two sons, to go along with her son... all three boys about the same age.

I will continue this blog, to chronicle how retired live really is... for us, at least. Our next "scheduled event" is the flight out to Utah, in July, to look after the Kaylee and Alex, while Annette, Larry, Ben and Arrion go hiking, for a couple of days. In the meantime, we have to unpack the stuff we packed, and put in storage... slowly, and systematically. Will be able to find anything? That is the question!

It was a very good day! ;-)

Weekend of Packing and Pitching

Well, the one week mark came and went...

We are in good shape for the move, but that is only because of a very active Friday night, Saturday and now Sunday... doing the things less desirable to finish up working "things" fifteen years in the making - corners of the garage, under the sinks, back corners of the closets, etc., etc. What fun!

Taking a break, at the moment, watching to see if Tiger can come from behind to win the Memorial Tournament. Experience is paying off, versus the youngsters, but two or three other veteran's of the tour are right in there as well.

It is a very good day! ;-)

T-Ball Game on Saturday - Photo of Game

Now, this is actually from a game earlier in May, but shows the whole uniform. Alex is playing in the outfield here. Later, he played the pitcher's position. These are photos Arrion took and loaded on Snapfish, where we can all access them. Thanks to her, for the good photos to choose from! ;-)

On reflection, the photo yesterday wasn't really fair... just the best I had, and wanted to feature Alex. Lazy, I was, I suppose. Old age does that... actually, just me. Honesty.

Busy on last minute packing and decisions of what to keep and pack and what to get rid of ... amazing how many little things accumulated. And, on it goes... !!

It was a very good day! ;-)

T-Ball Game on Saturday

Alex had a T-Ball game on Saturday afternoon while we were in Austin. It was too hot for us to go to the game, but we enjoyed seeing him put on his uniform. Photo is part way there....

It was a very good day! ;-)
