Snow event shoveling

We were very fortunate today to get some help from our neighbors on the driveway! Thanks, guys!

The radio said 10 inches with the overnight additions!

Hard freeze tonight, perhaps 10 degrees or less, so really good to get the shoveling done today.
It was a very good day!  ;-)

Another Snow Event

Friday, January 29, 2010, gave us about 6 inches of snow...  may be more by morning. One benefit of retirement, and planning, is you don't have to go outside.

Here is mid-day, didn't even step out.

A couple of hours later, a pickup with plow did go by... I stepped out two steps for this one.

Note the "egg shape" of the street light!
I'll go shovel, carefully on Saturday!

It was a very good day!  ;-)

Puzzle - heat wave today

Nancy and I put together another puzzle waiting for Larry to arrive for a brief overnight stay Wednesday evening. This puzzle was 300 pieces, the pieces were a little bigger. Nancy did most of it... I helped, a bit. Larry came in from Utah for a funeral in NW Arkansas.

It was actually up to 68 degrees today (Wed) - today (Thurs) back down in the 40s, rained over night.

It was a very good day!  ;-)

Martin Luther King Day in Hollister 2010

Allison came over for dinner of ham, sweet potatoes, corn, and rolls, with strawberries and ice cream for dessert! Forgot to take a photo... wonder why? Was I a bit distracted by the delicious food. Probably!

It was a very good day!  ;-)

Mid-January 2010

The snow is gone, and temps in the low 50s - even some sunshine. Nice. Good walking weather!

Where we used to have a tree, 3 little daffodil shoots are trying to come out! Note 2 at about "2 o'clock" and one at about "11 o'clock"...

Here is a Mar 2007 photo of the daffodils around the tree, as a reminder.

Watching Saints and Cardinals game; Ravens and Colts tonight; Cowboys and Vikings at noon tomorrow, Jets at Chargers later tomorrow.

It is another very good day!  ;-)

Bill and Nancy in Costume

Came across a couple of crazy photos of Nancy and I "in costume" over the years.
Now some would not consider our Junior Prom outfits in Spring 1956 "costumes" - but that is certainly not "normal" dress. ;-)

OK. this is a drama club play earlier in the spring - these are Hill Billie costumes - not "normal" dress, either...

A little later in life, we were big fans of ISU - Iowa State University Football - went to all home and away Big 8 games, and two Bowl games, in Atlanta and Birmingham... don't remember which this was for, but glad we took the photo! ;-)

The Cowboys won their first playoff NFL game, last night, since 1996. Finally.
Hope the really bitter cold has finally passed on by...

It was a very good day! ;-)

Puzzle awaiting the snow

Here is the puzzle we did this afternoon and evening... waiting for the snow to come.

500 piece, but does not have straight edges... we don't really like that. Watched radar all afternoon and into the evening... we may still get some snow, but, so far, the snow has gone north, the rain went south... we've had very little of anything. We'll see what happens over night.

It was a very good day! ;-)

Snow on arrival home from Texas

Got this photo recorded before the next batch of 1-4 inches in next 36 hours arrives...

This probably represents 3-4 inches from Sunday. I cleaned off the Honda so we will have a fresh start for the next accumulation. What fun! It was about 22 degrees when I took this, as well. Single digits overnight. Nice! ;-)

It was still a very good day! ;-)

Final days in Austin

This is likely my favorite photo of this visit! Kaylee has a ribbon in her hair, playing with a new toy. She pushes it over and over and it goes around and around with pretty music!

Here I caught Kaylee in her chair, with the telephone, talking away. I suppose this will carry into and through the teen years! Ben and Alex are reading Animal Crossing book. Arrion enjoying watching Kaylee.

Here Bob and Alex are checking out the Little People toys...

One evening, Alex and Ben were doing a chemical experiment with the kit he got. It really fizzed nicely!

It was a very good day! ;-) We will be heading back north, on Monday! ;-)

Ate at Salt Lick on Saturday

On Saturday at noon, we all went out to the Salt Lick BBQ restaurant for lunch to meet Bob and Janie Bolger there. They live out at Marble Falls.

Above is a view of us all arriving. Good timing, as we got right in.
Below, Bob and Janie are on the left, of course.

When we left, there was standing room only... people all over the place. Amazing!
Bob and Janie came over to the house after. I'll share some more of those photos on Sunday.

Here is one Annette took of Nancy and I on our Macs at the dining room table, sitting on the piano bench... ;-)

It was a very good day! ;-)
